Meet Haleigh

Our New Art Leader

Haleigh Wilcox was born in Ogden, Utah. In August 2010 she married her high school sweetheart. December of 2011 she graduated from Renaissance! February of 2012 they added a baby boy named Wyatt to their family. Haleighs interests include music of all sorts, hair, ballet and most of all art. Haleigh's father is a professional artist. At a very young age she was exposed to the world of art. When she isn't at daycare or attending to Wyatt, you will always find her drawing. Haleigh has been in numerous art galleries throughout the years and has even had the opportunity to display pieces in the Springville Museum of Art. She absolutely adores kids and is looking forward to sharing art with them!

Meet Jaymie

Our New Daycare Mom Liaison

Hello Parents!! My name is Jaymie Wilkerson and I am fairly new to Renaissance. I have had the opportunity to meet most of you and get to know your sweet children already. I thought I'd share a little about myself so you could get to know me a little better too. I grew up in Spanish Fork for the most part and love my Utah County home. I am a single mother of three great children!! I became a police officer 7 years ago and worked as a Deputy Sheriff in the Patrol Bureau for 5 years. I decided to take a break from law enforcement and focus more on being a mom and helping to care for a disabled family member. I found Renaissance Daycare through another Employee, Summer Trujillo, who saw that I desperately wanted to be around children and sought out a job working with them. Because of my time working long hours as single mother over these past years I have experienced first hand  how stressful leaving your child with other caregivers can be. I KNOW how it feels to not be able to focus because you are worrying about your child, I KNOW that concerns and questions are constantly raised regarding your child's environment when you can't be right by their side. My goal, along with the other staff members, is to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for your children. An open communication where questions and concerns can be discussed and addressed. This will hopefully help you have a more comfortable and enjoyable learning experience here at Renaissance. I have been thrilled to get to know so many beautiful children and their awesome Moms!! I really look forward to the new changes and improvements happening with the Daycare!! Thank you all so much for letting me be part of the Renaissance experience!

Renaissance Moms

Day Care News

The Day Care has been doing some rearranging in order to serve our moms and sweet children better.

Please be aware that when you arrive Monday morning the Preschoolers will now be meeting in their very own class room.

We've shifted things up in order to provide a kitchen area for art projects, snack times and lunch time away from the learning and play spaces.  Also the new location of the preschool gives moms the opportunity to visually check in on their children as often as they need throughout the day.

Here's a sneak peek....

New Class Schedules

Our goal for the Renaissance children is to provide positive interaction, learning and fun within their care environment.

In order to support this goal we have created the following class schedules for each class.  We are excited and committed to making your children's experience one that they enjoy each day.

We will be testing these new schedules throughout the next 2 weeks in order to better gauge our little learners involvement in each area.  We will keep moms informed of any changes or adjustments that may occur.

Mom Time

Good Luck Sandy! Here's a tribute to our favorite brunette!

F stands for FUN FORUM!!

Girl 1: Hey friend! Is anything going on this week at school?

Girl 2: Um duh, just like the coolest thing ever. Forum baby! It's where Leadership Team tells us what's going on for the month, we eat good food, celebrate birthdays, and even play games!

Girl 1:  Sounds totally lame.

Girl 2: Lame? Watching Bachelor every Monday night is lame. Forum rocks. I wait all month for it. In fact, I even camp outside the back classrooms Tuesday night just to make sure I get a front row seat!

Girl 1: Seriously? I think I'd rather be washing my hair or doing a perm on my dollhead. I mean, really, I'm just too cool for something like "Forum".

Girl 2: What?! You've got it all wrong..everyone who's anyone goes to Forum. Last month I sat next to Taylor Lautner and Angelina Jolie. That's right...because it's THAT cool.

Girl 1: Hmm...well maybe I'll check it out. When is it?

Girl 2: The first Wednesday of every month at 4pm...that means THIS Wednesday!

Girl 1: Alright, I'll see you there!

See it's that easy folks! Share the news about Forum with your friends so everyone at school can get the 411 of what's happening around our school.

Check out some sweet action shots from January's Forum!

Doesn't this look like fun?

BECAUSE IT WAS FUN FORUM!!!!!

Don't miss out...Forum is THIS Wednesday at 4pm, be there or be square!

p.s- I spy Kami, Aubrey, Jensen, and Mandy! Who do you see?

Tutorial: Braided Updo

Tired of the same old french twist? Is your updo outdated and boring?

We have good news for you!

The lovely Shannon shows us how to take a simple french braid and turn it into a fab Updo that's great for any occasion.

Get yo supplies ready!

Start by clipping the hair half up. Turn your curling iron on.

Take the clip out and loosely curl the rest of the hair.

Now take that curled hair and show it what you're made of!

It should look like this. If you want more volume, just backcomb more hair..volume never hurt anyone. Except maybe Dolly Parton.
Next, do the same for the sides and the top of the hair.

Standing to the side, divide the hair into 3 sections and begin a french braid around the side of the head. To french braid, pick up small sections of hair and add them to your braid as you go.

Keep the braid tight, you will loosen pieces of it later.

Once you have finished the braid, tie an elastic around it to keep it secure.

Loosen up the braid by carefully pulling pieces out at random.  Continue to do this through the top. Do not pull the hair out of the braid!

Use your weave comb to pull the elastic out of the hair while securely holding the braid.

Wah-Lah.

With the elastic, pull all hair (including braid) into a half ponytail. It's okay if it's messy.

Grab some bobby pins and begin pinning hair into a messy, but controlled bun.

To complete this look, pull hair in the crown area a little bit so that the hair is loose and fancy free. Do the same for the sides.

So pretty!

All dressed up with everywhere to go...

Don't be afraid to change things up, try this updo on someone this week!
