I'm an Aries girl with a passion for fashion and helping people look and feel beautiful. I've been in the hair industry for almost 12 years and it's been a blast. I enjoy teaching color and seeing students gain confidence and succeed. I enjoy cooking, crafting, running and red vines. I grew up in the northwest but, prefer the sunshine of Utah. On my days off you will find me relaxing at home with a good movie and good friends.

Hey Mandy You're So Fine!

Mandy Humphrey has a passion for providing ways for students to go to great lengths… for themselves.  Her vision as Director is to empower both staff and students to evolve to their best.
With an initial college path in education shortly after marriage, to her best friend Jason, she switched directions and enrolled in hair school.  After 2 years of working in a salon Mandy determined with her enthusiasm for teaching and love for all things hair that working in a school would be the perfect match.
She is inspired by her students and greatly values their point of view and is continually striving to understand what they need and how she can support their success.   Mandy is motivated by overcoming fears by taking on new challenges and seeing others achieve especially when they take information she has shared and see them make it even better or more efficient.  She enjoys the challenge of finding new and creative solutions to encourage a positive and fun environment.  Mandy is rewarded when she is able to watch students begin their program and transform into amazingly talented, confident and competent professionals.
When Mandy is not teaching she spends as much time as she can with her husband and two sweet boys.  Her favorite vacation is Disneyland and when she retires dreams about becoming a Disney cast member
She enjoys a good movie that can transport her away from reality and cheesy teen novels.  She also couldn't live without chocolate and Friday night date nights with her sweet husband.

How To: Vintage Ponytail

Step 1: Begin with clean, straight hair.

Step 2: Make a diagonal section beginning at your part to the front of your ear on each side.

Step 3: Curl hair to achieve the most volume in the crown area. Pin curls up and let set for 30 minutes.

Step 4:  Remove pins and tease those curls!

Step 5: Smooth out top of hair with a comb so it doesn't appear ratty. Pull hair into a pony tail.

Step 6: Take one side of the front hair and secure it around the base of the ponytail.

Step 7: Repeat on the other side.

Step 8: Curl ponytail hair and smooth out front
with a fine comb.

Step 9: Take yourself out for a night on the town!

How To: Gingham Style

Step 1: Find the perfect polish.

Base/Top Coat: China Glaze First & Last
                                                 White: OPI Alpine Snow
Blue: OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui

Step 2:   Apply base coat. Paint two coats of white onto clean, prepped nails.

Step 3: Cut strips into tape while polish dries.
(Hint: You will want 20 strips/2 for each nail)

Step 4: Apply tape to dry nails vertically.

Step 5:  Carefully paint the nails with your second color.

Step 6:  Allow paint to dry completely.

Step 7: Be sure to have a friend help you..this can get tricky.

Step 8: Apply tape to dry nails horizontally.

Step 9: Allow proper drying time and apply Top coat!

K is for Kim!

My name is Kimberly Stopa. I love being a part of leadership and the opportunity it gives me to get involved with what goes on at the school. I'm so happy I chose Renaissance because it is honestly the best school around. I have 5 siblings and am currently living with my Mom, younger sister and brother. It is a lot of fun being able to spend time with my family so often.
I like to play guitar, eat food and spend time outdoors. But most of all I love being part of the Renaissance family!

A is for April!

Hi I'm April! As part of the Leadership team, I'm in charge of Forum, making sure there's delicious food at school events, and helping my fellow students get the most out of their education! I also run this little ol' blog here, which in my opinion, is the most fun of all.
I'm from California and even though I love the sun, the snow here makes me so happy. I'm married to an Air Force Pilot and we have a little babe named Ellie who is the funniest person I've ever known. Cosmetology school is a great fit for me, not just because of my love for fashion and hair, but I love working with people. I think the best part of my job is helping people feel better about themselves. I'm obsessed with mexican food and Parks and Recreation.  I really do believe that laughter is the best medicine!

Vern-a-licious!

I am Veronica Kaletta. Most students know me as "Vern". I am currently the Orientation Director.  I moved here from NYC in 2001 to attend beauty school and have been in the industry ever since. I have been teaching now for five years, two of which have been here at Renaissance. I love instructing, especially the "newbies", because for many it is the first real experience they have had learning this particular craft. It's exciting to see someone achieve something they have always wanted to do and know that you had a part in it. As for myself, I like to have a creative outlet. I love cutting, photo shoots, up-do's, makeup, and things pertaining to theater. I believe that there is a difference in teaching fact versus opinion, and I think there are many differences that makes a stylist go from good to great. That is one of the reasons I love working at Renaissance. We are able to address those differences and have an awesome staff with varied backgrounds to support that.

M stands for Marnie

My name is Marnie Stevens. I run the Front Desk and Dispense at Renaissance. I grew up in Orem, Ut. When I was 15 I moved to Puyallup, WA and then back to Orem the next year. I have wanted to do hair all of my life. I am currently working at Hideaway Salon, and plan to continue on with my career in the beauty industry. My favorite thing about doing hair is being able to make someone's day. I am very outgoing and love new adventures. In September I moved to Ukraine for four months. I was there to teach kids English through a program called ILP. The experience was amazing and I would never take it back! I look forward to the future and all that it holds for me!

Meet Talia!

My name is Talia and I am the Front Desk Coordinator at Renaissance Academie de Hair Design.

I am a student at Utah Valley University working on generals as I am unsure of the career path that I want to take. When I am not working or in school, I enjoy adventures with friends and shopping my heart out.

Introducing...Megan!

The Leadership Team would like to welcome Megan Crookston as our newest member! Megan is a Night school student and is planning to graduate in 2014.  She loves Almond Joy's and her favorite color is lime green.

Megan grew up in Mapleton and currently lives in Orem. She decided to come to hair school, because her family would always ask her to do their hair and she loved it! Other hobbies include drawing, painting, and crafting!

Megan is so much fun to be around and she is always willing to help others. Be sure to congratulate her!
