Tutorial: Braided Updo

Tired of the same old french twist? Is your updo outdated and boring?

We have good news for you!

The lovely Shannon shows us how to take a simple french braid and turn it into a fab Updo that's great for any occasion.

Get yo supplies ready!

Start by clipping the hair half up. Turn your curling iron on.

Take the clip out and loosely curl the rest of the hair.

Now take that curled hair and show it what you're made of!

It should look like this. If you want more volume, just backcomb more hair..volume never hurt anyone. Except maybe Dolly Parton.
Next, do the same for the sides and the top of the hair.

Standing to the side, divide the hair into 3 sections and begin a french braid around the side of the head. To french braid, pick up small sections of hair and add them to your braid as you go.

Keep the braid tight, you will loosen pieces of it later.

Once you have finished the braid, tie an elastic around it to keep it secure.

Loosen up the braid by carefully pulling pieces out at random.  Continue to do this through the top. Do not pull the hair out of the braid!

Use your weave comb to pull the elastic out of the hair while securely holding the braid.

Wah-Lah.

With the elastic, pull all hair (including braid) into a half ponytail. It's okay if it's messy.

Grab some bobby pins and begin pinning hair into a messy, but controlled bun.

To complete this look, pull hair in the crown area a little bit so that the hair is loose and fancy free. Do the same for the sides.

So pretty!

All dressed up with everywhere to go...

Don't be afraid to change things up, try this updo on someone this week!
