Wanted: Teacher's Aide!
Interested in sharing what you've learned? Apply to be a Teacher's Aide! Positions are open for Front Desk, Color/Cutting Classes, and Orientation.
To be qualified, you must have excelled in the class you wish to be a T.A for and no longer be in that class (i.e you must be in Phase 2 Color to T.A in Phase 1 Color).
To apply go to the Portal and you will find the application under "Forms". Contact Mandy if you have further questions.

We're bringing 80's back..
The only thing cooler than the hair in this picture is that NEXT THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14TH we are throwing an 80's bash that would make Madonna and the cast of Saved By The Bell proud!
The Deets:
Who: All students and staff
Where: Back classrooms
What: Food, Just Dance, Wedding dress competition, lots of chocolate, music, and a whole lot more!
Why: Because the 80's rocked
When: 2/14/2013 2-5pm (2-3 will be prep time to do hair, nails, and makeup)
What to wear: Neon, hi-tops, acid washed jeans, spandex, leg warmers, etc..

How To: Valentine Polkas!
Valentines Day is just around the corner! Who needs candy hearts and roses when you have nails like these?
You will Need:
-Base/Top Coat, White polish, Red/Pink polish
-Toothpicks
-Tape
Step 1: Find awesome friend to paint your nails.
Step 2: Choose a base/top coat, white, and either a pink or red shade. (Remember we are talking about L-O-V-E here ladies!)
Step 3: Apply base coat to clean, dry nails.
You can't spend the most romantic day of the year without cute nails so find a friend and get painting!
You will Need:
-Base/Top Coat, White polish, Red/Pink polish
-Toothpicks
-Tape
Step 1: Find awesome friend to paint your nails.
Step 2: Choose a base/top coat, white, and either a pink or red shade. (Remember we are talking about L-O-V-E here ladies!)
Step 3: Apply base coat to clean, dry nails.
Step 4: Begin with either white or pink color, alternating nails.
Step 5: Apply second color to remaining nails.
Step 6: Get those toothpicks ready...
Break those babies in half! Put tape (or folder tab if that's all you can find) on working area.
Apply polish to tape and then dip the toothpick into polish.
Step 7: Get your polka on! Leave one nail without
polkas on each hand. (For blunt end break toothpick in half.)
Step 8: Make 2 small dots with the toothpick on the nail without polka dots, then carefully spread into a heart shape with pointy tip of toothpick.
Step 9: Admire those beauties.

What is the Leadership Council?
A group of 4-6 students selected by staff and fellow peers to be a voice for the students! Students are elected to this Council and remain there (if desired) until Graduation. The Council meets weekly to discuss events, ideas, and opportunities to have a lot of fun at school. These students are there to help answer any questions or concerns you many have to ensure Renaissance students feel heard and important!

What is the Leadership Committee?
Any student that wants to participate is welcome to join the Leadership Committee. We want all students to have a voice for their school and encourage all positive, uplifting, and helpful suggestions! We want problem solvers and people who seek solutions. You can be assigned to specific tasks or be there to help as needed. Once a month, the Leadership Committee meets with the Leadership Council to discuss monthly events, photoshoots, parties, service opportunities, etc. This is the perfect place for you to help make a difference at our school! It's also a really fun way to get to know other students and make new friends!

What is Forum?
Forum happens on the first Wednesday of every month from 4-5 pm. At Forum, announcements are made, games are played, and a lot of cool shenanigans.
Do I get anything for being on Leadership?
Yes! Hooray! You will receive boxes for the time you spend working on Leadership activities.. boxes are great, because they are your ticket to Graduation!
